Should we reconfigure our new house to make a great room?

May I Wish asked:
We just bought a house and its quite old. now walks with a small corridor in a hall. the right is a master bedroom and on the left is divided into a kitchen and a bathroom on the left side and 2 smaller bedrooms (one after another) from the right side. (so, the kitchen has an open door to a bedroom). We are thinking of taking down the wall connecting the bedroom to the kitchen as well as taking a part of the bedroom above also make a "great" room. But if this is done, the new bedrooms will be at the front of the house and enter the person must walk down a corridor to get to the rear of the house with a living area. This is a good idea? or we should maintain the sense that it is? oh, we are also planning on the French doors to the rear of the house (to the rear of the new "great" room) which will open a new platform and the large courtyard. make it difficult to sell the property if the entry is a long corridor? I forgot to add that our private road running the length of the house. Probably park our car at the private road and use the platform after a "great" entered the room 99% of time.
