My parents want me to represent them with their current real estate problems, so I was wondering how old you have to be to study to get one? I know you have to be 18 to receive the license but how old do you have to be to study to get one?

You can study as much as you wish. Read the following books which you can get a local bookstores:

    Real Estate Principles
    Real Estate Practice

Also you can go to the local community college and get books from there shelfs about real estate. Especially real estate law.

If you need more information go to dre.ca.gov and also reference the buisness and professions code.

Also conduct a REALTOR whom has a legal team behind them for advice about your parents concerns.

Any other information please email me.

BTW after you have read the following books I have stated above you might as well get your RE license and become a REALTOR. Openthathouse.com

    - You may start STUDYING whenever you wish. Sign up for a correspondence course– search online for “real estate school.”

    - You can take the license TEST when you are 18.

BUT, let’s get a bit practical here: You say your parents have real estate “problems”?

You do not need a real estate license in order to work on your own/family transactions. You need a license to get paid for helping other people with their transactions. If you want to work on your transactions, save your time and money.

More importantly, license courses teach you the basic laws of real estate (in order to protect the consumer) — they do not teach you how to be a successful agent, how to negotiate, nor how to resolve problems.

It’s great that your parents have the confidence in you to assist them with their business dealings (real estate), but if they are having “problems,” they need an EXPERIENCED and KNOWLEDGEABLE agent. Real estate may seem simple (just buy or sell a property, right?) but there are many technicalities that you won’t know about until you have been on the job and handled many transactions.

I have 300 agents in my firm and even agents who have been on the job for several years don’t know all the ins and outs.

If you really want to help them, I suggest that you offer to help them interview agents so that they can find one who knows what they are doing. Genki

AS the gent who owns a RE firm
    accurately said, maybe you need
to know what the problem is!

I am also a RE broker and RE problems can encompass anything.

Sometimes, a nice sit down chat
    solves the concern and sometimes,
it takes a deed change or a lawsuit.

So, are you at liberty to volunteer
    what the problem is–exactly?

Also, as shared with you; the purpose of the license is to permit you to
    conduct the BUSINESS of fiduciary–
or–representing others in a RE transaction as a buyer or seller.

if you do not wish to represent sellers
or buyers in RE deals –there is no
    advantage to obtaining a license.

I will help you as a gift–or you can be more specific and bring your exact problem back here! kemperk
